Why I Write Emotional, Issue-Driven Fiction
Some stories entertain. Others help us heal. I write the kind that stay with pain long enough to find the light... stories that remind me why we keep going, even when it hurts.
Just like every reader has a reason they reach for certain stories, every writer has a reason they keep showing up to write. For me, there are many… but the one that pulls me back again and again is the need to work through the things that linger with me long after life has moved on.
What I see in the world sometimes leaves a residue… the injustice, the quiet suffering, the people trapped by trauma or circumstance… Writing helps me carry those truths without being consumed by them… or becoming numb to them. It’s how I make sense of pain I carry that isn’t always my own, and how I honor the strength and humanity that exist even in the hardest situations.
I write to face trauma. Fiction gives me space to look at pain honestly, without turning away. It helps me give words and meaning to issues some might disregard.
I write to honor resilience. The people who fall, get up, and keep moving inspire me endlessly. Through my characters, I get to celebrate that quiet, everyday kind of strength.
And I write to celebrate redemption. I love those moments when someone chooses hope instead of hate, forgiveness instead of blame. Those moments remind me that growth is always possible.
At its heart, my writing is about transformation… turning hurt into meaning, and darkness into something a little more human, a little lighter.
If my stories do anything, I hope they remind people they’re not alone — that even in the darkest places, there’s still room for light.
Updates:
This is the first time since I started publishing that I don’t have a book to release on my birthday. While it bothers me a bit, I’m not stressed. I’ve been working on improving my currently published books and hope to finish uploading them this weekend. Once they’re all up, I’ll be releasing a box set, so keep your eyes open for that!
I plan to release another book (in weekly chapters) here again starting in January. Prior, I'll post a couple of different options from my pile of unfinished manuscripts. You can help me choose which book to share next, and just like last time, I’ll edit as I release each chapter.
Freebie!!!
In honor of my birthday weekend, Desperate Girls will be free on Amazon.com on 10-11-25. If you haven’t read it, please grab a copy. It’s only free on Saturday! If you enjoy it, consider leaving a review… and grab the box set when it is published!
Help Needed!!
I’m looking for a couple of proofreaders/beta readers. I have updated all of the Chronicles of Iniquity books and would love feedback. What you get? A free book! What do I need in return? Honest feedback on any errors or areas that need attention. If you are interested, please let me know. There are 3 main books in the series and one side book (novella). I need 2 individuals for each book.
Thank you!!
Thank you all for sticking with me. Finally doing what I’ve always wanted to do has been rewarding… and frustrating! Lol… But I don’t regret a thing! As I increase my skills, I hope to widen my reach with readers.
**Special Thanks** Special thanks to Shelby F. who I consider my lead ARC reader. She has been a huge help. Always willing and she always comes through.
I’d also like to thank Chris, who reminded me that what I write can be emotionally heavy. I’ve taken that to heart as I move forward, trying to create some distance from burnout.
