Hi, my name is Bobbie Lou, and I am the author of three published novels. Desperate Girls and Baby Pawn are crime/suspense novels and are part of the series Chronicles of an Iniquity. I also have a new release For You, I would, which is a Contemporary YA novel, with a found family trope. All of my books are available on Amazon.com.
This is my first podcast, so welcome to Diary of an Introverted Author. If you are a subscriber to my Substack blog/newsletter, thank you so much for supporting me. And if you are new here, I appreciate you being here, and I hope you get something out of what we discuss. Since this is my first podcast, I am learning as I go, so you will see improvements along the way. I’m working on my “ums”, as well as the format of my topics, and resisting the urge to go off on a tangent.
My focus on the podcast and my blog is to discuss those things that affect me as an introverted author. The major item is marketing; however, I don’t plan to tackle that one first. First, I’d like to address the series of mistakes I made in writing and publishing my first novel. There are other lessons I’ve learned on this journey that I consider important to share, but I also want to use this platform as a place for conversation with you guys. If you have questions or topics you’d like to discuss, please email me or leave a comment below.
One reason I want to dive into (and dissect) the mistakes I’ve made is because they are common mistakes new authors (and some seasoned authors) make. For myself, I don’t care to be told what to do every step of the way. I like to research, so I know the suggested practice, but there is always wiggle room for individuality and creativity. My preference for learning through hands-on experience, combined with my impatience and neurodivergent tendencies, can sometimes create a quiet storm that hinders me in achieving the desired outcome. And that, folks, is why I’ve made so many mistakes. However, in learning how to do it correctly, with what works for me, I would love for you guys to join me on that journey. My ultimate goal is to continue to improve with every book I write and for any new authors out there that may resonate with you.
If you are in the same situation, welcome home. If not, then you are still welcome here, as you may find some of the information useful. To say it more directly… I hope you stick around.
I intend to post twice a month, with a possible increase to every week. I named my first series Page One. It delves into the gray area between being a writer and an author, based on my experiences. If you are starting out or struggling to get your footing, this series is for you.
I look forward to continuing my journey as an author and I hope you join me. Thank you for listening. You can reach me via Facebook or leave a comment. If you haven’t subscribed, please hit that button. Subscribe and Share!
